Applicants must have Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science. Preference will be given to candidates with a Technical Matric qualification. A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage. Applicants must have a clear criminal record. Technical skills will be advantageous, and candidates must demonstrate good customer orientation and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
This position reports to the Manager: Service and is suited to an individual who has a strong interest in repairing motor vehicles and aspires to qualify as a Motor Mechanic Technician. The successful candidate will participate in an Apprentice Training Programme for a maximum of three years, gaining structured training and practical workshop exposure.
Responsibilities include assisting Technicians with vehicle repairs under supervision. Duties involve removing and replacing vehicle parts and units, jacking up vehicles and placing trestles safely, lubricating and changing oils according to manufacturer specifications, and removing and replacing wheels, air filters, oil filters, and batteries. The apprentice will also assist with various mechanical repairs as instructed.
Additional responsibilities include cleaning parts, maintaining housekeeping standards, and ensuring that tools and equipment are kept clean and in good working condition. The apprentice must keep overalls and work areas clean at all times and strictly follow all safety rules and workshop procedures.
Attendance of prescribed technical and level-based training courses forms part of the programme. The ideal candidate must be disciplined, safety-conscious, eager to learn, and committed to successfully completing the apprenticeship programme within the designated timeframe.
