Applicants must have Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science. Preference will be given to candidates with a Technical Matric qualification. A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage. Candidates must have a clear criminal record. Technical skills will be advantageous, and applicants must demonstrate good customer orientation and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

This position reports to the Manager: Service and is suited to an individual who has a strong interest in motor vehicle repairs and aspires to qualify as a Motor Mechanic Technician. The successful candidate will participate in an Apprentice Training Programme for a maximum of three years, gaining structured workplace learning and technical exposure within a professional automotive workshop environment.

Responsibilities include assisting qualified Technicians with the repair and servicing of vehicles under supervision. Duties involve removing and replacing parts or units from vehicles, jacking up vehicles and placing trestles safely, lubricating and changing oils according to manual specifications, and removing and replacing wheels, air filters, oil filters, and batteries. The apprentice will also assist with general vehicle repairs as directed.

Additional duties include cleaning parts, maintaining housekeeping standards, keeping tools and equipment clean and in good working order, and ensuring overalls and work areas remain tidy. The apprentice must attend prescribed technical and level-based training courses as part of the programme and adhere strictly to all safety rules and workshop procedures.

The ideal candidate must be disciplined, safety-conscious, eager to learn, and committed to completing the apprenticeship programme successfully.
