The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of maintenance duties across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repairs. Plumbing responsibilities include performing repairs on leaks, taps, toilets, and clearing drainage blockages to ensure uninterrupted water and sanitation systems. Electrical maintenance tasks involve working on light fittings, switches, and plugs, while excluding major electrical installations. The role also requires carrying out general building repairs such as fixing walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and roofing elements to maintain structural integrity. Carpentry work forms part of the duties, including repairing cupboards, locks, hinges, and other wooden structures. The incumbent will assist with painting, tiling, and minor construction projects as needed. Additional responsibilities include operating hand and power tools safely, clearing gutters and storm-water drains to prevent blockages and water damage, reporting major faults and safety hazards to the Building Maintenance Technician, and ensuring that all tools and equipment are maintained in good working condition.
The qualification requirements for this position include a Matric (Grade 12) certificate and a valid driver’s licence. Candidates should possess relevant certificates or short courses in Plumbing, Electrical, and Building Maintenance. Applicants must also have between one and three years of relevant maintenance experience, demonstrating practical knowledge and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety standards.
