Cashbuild in Giyani is looking for a General Assistant

Applicants must have a minimum of Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least 1 year of related work experience, or Grade 12 with no prior experience. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language of the area. A valid South African ID or work permit is required. Applicants should have the ability to perform basic calculations accurately and must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. The ideal candidate must be able to work under pressure, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and maintain a high level of customer service at all times.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service within the store environment. This includes assisting customers with product selection, answering queries, and resolving complaints in a professional and helpful manner. Building positive relationships with customers and ensuring a welcoming shopping experience is a key part of the role.

A major responsibility of the position involves merchandising stock according to store layout plans and company standards. The General Assistant will ensure that shelves are properly stocked, products are displayed neatly, and pricing labels are accurate and clearly visible. Maintaining well-organized stock areas helps improve customer experience and supports efficient store operations.

Housekeeping is another critical aspect of the role. The candidate will ensure that their assigned area is clean, safe, and free from obstacles at all times. This includes immediate merchandising of incoming stock and ensuring that aisles are accessible and safe for customers and staff. Regular completion of checklists, including canteen and restroom schedules, is also required to maintain overall store standards.

The role also requires strict adherence to safety and OHSA regulations. The successful candidate must use safety equipment where required, ensure that stock is stored safely, and report any hazards or discrepancies to the Store Manager. Maintaining a safe environment for both customers and colleagues is essential.

In addition, the employee will assist in managing stock loss by reporting damaged or missing items and ensuring that stock is handled responsibly. Accuracy in handling merchandise and attention to detail will help reduce errors and improve operational efficiency.
