The successful candidate will play a direct role in upholding hygiene, compliance, and operational excellence within a regulated manufacturing environment.

The primary responsibility of the Equipment Cleaner is to steam and thoroughly clean production equipment using steam cleaners and other appropriate tools. All equipment must be cleaned strictly in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring that hygiene and safety standards are consistently maintained. The role includes the maintenance and cleaning of machinery and tooling, as well as ensuring that disinfectant logs are updated accurately. The incumbent will be responsible for completing tank cleaning checklists correctly and obtaining the necessary authorisation to confirm compliance. Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness within the steam cleaning department is essential to ensure a safe and organised work environment.

To qualify for this position, applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate and demonstrate basic computer literacy. Previous cleaning experience is required, and at least one year of experience within an FMCG or pharmaceutical environment will be advantageous. Candidates should have knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP principles, as well as familiarity with production documentation and reconciliation processes. An understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and environmental standards is essential to ensure compliance within the production environment.

In addition to cleaning responsibilities, the Equipment Cleaner must maintain high GMP standards throughout the department as prescribed by SOP. Ensuring that all safety devices on machinery are functioning effectively forms part of the daily responsibility to uphold workplace safety. The role requires careful attention to detail, consistency in documentation, and strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
