Motus is seeking a dedicated Cashier to join its Midas branch in East London. As part of the well-established Midas network, this role plays an important part in ensuring accurate payment processing, effective cash control, and professional customer service at branch level. The position is ideal for an experienced cashier who demonstrates integrity, accuracy, and strong administrative capability.

The primary purpose of the role is to receive payments, reconcile cash, and maintain proper documentation of all financial transactions conducted at the branch. The successful candidate will receive payments from customers for services rendered and products purchased, ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with company guidelines. This includes communicating clearly with customers regarding payment queries, providing information on product pricing where necessary, and verifying amounts tendered against totals due. The cashier will count and verify cash received, process cheque payments in line with company procedures, request identification when required, and issue receipts that accurately reflect the amount received. Ensuring that all customer enquiries and payment transactions are handled efficiently and professionally is a key responsibility of the role.

Cash reconciliation is a critical component of this position. The incumbent will reconcile cash received against issued receipts by separating denominations and following established control counting sequences. This includes adding and verifying totals to ensure alignment between physical cash and recorded receipts. The role requires capturing overnight cheque deposit details, printing receipts against payment tenders, and accurately recording transactional details on cheques before submission for further processing. The cashier must verify cash receipt schedules and reports against cheque totals in collaboration with the immediate superior and address any discrepancies prior to forwarding funds for deposit.

Accurate documentation and recordkeeping are essential. The successful candidate will maintain orderly transaction records, attach duplicate receipts and deposit slips to schedules, and file documentation in chronological sequence. The role also requires accessing and retrieving transaction information to resolve specific customer or internal enquiries promptly and accurately.

The qualification requirements for this position include a Grade 12 certificate and two to five years of cashier experience, which is essential. Candidates must be honest, trustworthy, and demonstrate high levels of integrity, particularly when handling counter cash. The role requires the ability to perform general administrative functions within the branch and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Applicants must have a clear ITC and criminal record.
