Rosebank College in Polokwane, Limpopo is Looking For a Handyman

Rosebank College, part of ADvTECH Group, is currently seeking a dedicated Handyman to ensure that campus facilities remain fully functional, safe, and aligned with agreed infrastructure standards.

The purpose of this role is to maintain, inspect, and repair campus facilities and furniture, ensuring that all infrastructure is fully equipped and operational. The successful candidate will either carry out maintenance tasks directly or coordinate with external service providers to ensure required standards are met. The position plays a vital role in supporting a safe and conducive learning environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities include conducting weekly inspections of buildings to identify maintenance issues, organising necessary repairs or replacements, and performing general maintenance in accordance with established safety procedures. The Handyman will observe and report any breakages, hazards, or damages to the Principal and assist with carrying boxes, furniture, and deliveries. Responsibilities also include supporting lock-up procedures and access control when required. Regular inspection of fire equipment is essential to ensure compliance with legal requirements relating to placement and servicing. The incumbent will liaise with external service providers to maintain safety standards and manage maintenance of equipment such as whiteboards, televisions, and projectors. Generating a weekly supply replacement list and submitting it to the Principal before close of business each Friday forms part of the administrative duties. The role further requires assisting the Campus team during internal and external audits as needed.

The qualification requirements for this position include a Matric certificate. A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage. Candidates should have at least two years of maintenance or handyman experience and must be physically capable of performing the required duties. Applicants must have no MIE listing related to arrears or outstanding fees with any educational facility and must have a clear criminal record.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the South African higher education system and regulatory framework. Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and a customer service orientation are essential. The role requires adaptability to change, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, and the capacity to function effectively within a team environment. Clear and effective communication skills are also important to ensure smooth coordination with campus staff and service providers.
