Tharisa Minerals in North West is Looking For a Maintenance Clerk

At Tharisa Minerals, operational efficiency within the Maintenance and Engineering environment depends heavily on accurate coordination, timely procurement, and reliable administrative systems. The organisation is seeking a Maintenance / Engineering Clerk to provide specialised clerical support that ensures the smooth functioning of maintenance activities and the continuous availability of equipment across the mine. This role plays a critical part in supporting operational performance by managing work orders, maintaining records, and facilitating communication between departments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing both planned and unplanned work orders within the allocated functions of the mine. This includes creating, opening, tracking, and closing work orders for equipment and machinery maintenance while ensuring full compliance with legal and industry requirements. The role requires capturing machine usage data, including SMR and kilometres, when processing work orders to ensure that system information remains current and accurate. All maintenance-related data per shift must be captured and input into the relevant systems to contribute to shift summary reports that detail the operational status of machines and equipment. The incumbent will maintain PTO, SOP, and legal dashboards in collaboration with the Maintenance Planner, ensuring that all changes are approved prior to implementation. The position further involves creating and maintaining efficient data filing systems to enhance information retrieval and storage processes. Comprehensive records must be maintained relating to material requisitions, materials and supplies ordered and used, and overall stock utilisation. The role also requires capturing, printing, and distributing information regarding booked equipment (both operational and non-operational) to ensure stakeholders remain informed of equipment progress.

In addition to administrative coordination, the role supports resource management by providing input into required changes in resources to achieve departmental objectives. The Maintenance / Engineering Clerk acts as a first point of contact between operational mining functions and support departments, contributing to the collection and capturing of data across various areas of the mine. Strong stakeholder engagement is essential, as the incumbent must communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve work objectives and maintain professional relationships. The role requires fostering efficient communication across departments, particularly between operations and the control room, to ensure maintenance and repairs are coordinated effectively on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Breakdowns must be communicated promptly to relevant superintendents in accordance with procedures, with systems updated to provide a live view of equipment availability and estimated downtime.

The qualification requirements for this position include a Grade 12 / Matric (NQF 4) certificate. Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ clerical experience within a mining engineering maintenance environment. Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required. Experience or exposure to MS Dynamics F&O and reporting tools such as MS Power BI will be advantageous. Candidates must also be medically fit in accordance with mining industry standards.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the operational success of Tharisa Minerals by ensuring accurate documentation, effective coordination, and timely communication within the Maintenance and Engineering department. Individuals who are detail-oriented, organised, and capable of working in a dynamic mining environment are encouraged to apply before the closing date of 19 February 2026.
