The Control Room Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of clients through continuous monitoring and rapid response coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring alarm-based applications, overseeing live-streaming CCTV feeds, conducting daily system checks, capturing detailed incident reports, and communicating movements on and offsite. The role also requires close coordination with armed response teams and field supervisors, ensuring accurate and timely information is relayed during incidents. Maintaining exceptional customer service standards is essential, as operators serve as a key point of contact during security events.
To qualify for this position, applicants must have completed Matric and be PSIRA registered. Advanced computer literacy and strong report-writing skills are essential due to the extensive use of monitoring systems and documentation platforms. Candidates must have at least 12 months of control room experience and be available to work 12-hour rotational shifts, consisting of two day shifts from 06h00 to 18h00, two night shifts from 18h00 to 06h00, followed by four days off.
In performing daily duties, the Control Room Operator must maintain constant vigilance while reviewing alarm triggers and CCTV footage to detect suspicious activity or potential security breaches. Prompt assessment and action are required to ensure appropriate response measures are activated without delay. Accurate logging of all incidents, alarms, and communications is vital to maintain compliance, support investigations, and uphold operational standards.
Clear and professional communication forms a central part of this role. The operator must liaise effectively with armed response personnel, field supervisors, and clients, ensuring that all relevant information is conveyed accurately and efficiently. The ability to remain calm under pressure, manage multiple monitoring platforms simultaneously, and make sound decisions in high-stress situations is critical to success in this position.
