A rewarding opportunity has opened at MCE for a reliable and detail-oriented Stock Handler. This role is ideal for a hands-on individual who takes pride in maintaining order, accuracy, and efficiency within a warehouse environment. The successful candidate will support the smooth running of daily warehouse operations by ensuring that stock is received, stored, transferred, and managed with precision and care.
The primary purpose of this role is to manage stock handling and storage processes while maintaining high standards of organisation and inventory accuracy. You will work in a physically demanding environment where teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to standard operating procedures are essential. The ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions carefully will be key to success in this position.
The minimum requirement for this position is Matric/Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification. Previous warehouse or stockroom experience will be advantageous but is not essential for candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. A forklift licence is advantageous but not compulsory. Applicants must be physically fit and possess the stamina required for lifting, moving, and organising stock throughout the warehouse.
In this role, you will receive and offload stock from incoming shipments and containers, ensuring that goods are sorted correctly according to designated warehouse sections. You will transfer stock to the correct bin locations and shelves, move bulk stock to mezzanine storage areas when required, and return misplaced or incorrectly pulled stock to its proper location. Bulk transfers between inter-warehouses and branches will also form part of your responsibilities, including loading and offloading company stock according to standard operating procedures.
You will assist in maintaining clean and organised shelving, add barcode stickers to shelves and products when required, and ensure mezzanine storage areas remain orderly and safe. Rotating stock according to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles is critical to prevent expiry or obsolescence. The role also includes supporting stock-taking activities and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records. You may assist pickers in locating missing or misplaced stock to ensure smooth order fulfilment and report any discrepancies to the Stock Controller, Administrator, or Supervisor.
Additional duties include isolating and inspecting damaged or defective products, reporting issues for further action, loading courier trucks, assisting drivers with vehicle preparation for delivery, responding to stock-related queries, supplying stock to various departments, and assisting with picking and packing when required.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate basic knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory procedures, strong organisational and time management skills, and the ability to operate manual handling equipment such as trolleys and pallet jacks. Attention to detail is essential when sorting, checking, and relocating stock. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and a dependable attitude will contribute significantly to success in this role.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking to grow within a warehouse and distribution environment while contributing to efficient and accurate stock management. If you are physically fit, organised, and committed to maintaining high operational standards, this opportunity at MCE could be the ideal next step in your career.
