Senwes Grainlink in Heilbron, Free State is Looking For a Grain Grader

In the heart of South Africa’s agricultural value chain, Senwes Grainlink is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join its team as a Junior Grain Grader. This role offers an excellent entry point into the grain handling and storage industry, providing hands-on exposure to commodity grading, silo operations, and compliance processes within a professional agricultural environment.

The successful candidate will assist with grain handling by grading different commodities in accordance with established standards and procedures. Responsibilities include supporting the offloading, storage, receiving, and dispatching of grain while strictly adhering to operational instructions. You will help ensure that silo facilities, storage areas, and general premises remain clean and well-maintained through regular inspections and adherence to housekeeping procedures. The role also involves checking that machinery, product handling equipment, and gutters are in proper working condition, as well as assisting in the correct and effective operation of the control board. In addition, you will support general office administration, contribute to systematic loss control inspections, assist with supervision of blue-collar personnel, and help ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations in the workplace.

The minimum requirement for this position is a National Senior Certificate. A valid driver’s licence is mandatory. Candidates with up to two years’ experience in grain handling and grading will receive preference, as practical exposure to silo operations and commodity grading processes will be advantageous in performing the role effectively.

In this position, you will contribute to maintaining operational efficiency within the silo by supporting loss control efforts and ensuring that all grain movements are accurately managed. Assisting with administrative duties and control board operations requires a strong sense of responsibility and attentiveness. The ability to work methodically and follow detailed instructions is essential, particularly when handling commodities where accuracy directly impacts quality and value.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, enabling effective interaction with colleagues, supervisors, and operational staff. You must be able to work under pressure, particularly during peak harvest and delivery periods, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
